Sex & intimacy therapy in Denver, CO & online
True, intimate connection.
Sex and intimacy are deeply personal parts of a relationship, and they are often shaped by far more than just what happens in the moment. They are influenced by communication, emotional connection, past experiences, cultural messaging, and the meanings we each carry about sex and closeness.
It is common for couples to experience challenges in this area over time. You might notice differences in desire, difficulty talking about sex, or a sense of disconnection that is hard to name. These experiences can feel sensitive or even isolating, but they are also very workable with the right support.
Sex and intimacy therapy is a space to slow down and approach these topics with care, openness, and intention.
My approach
My approach focuses on helping couples navigate desire discrepancies, improve sexual communication, and work through sexual difficulties in a way that feels collaborative and grounded. Rather than treating these challenges as problems to fix, we explore what they mean, how they developed, and what each partner is needing.
A key part of this work is unpacking cultural narratives around sex and intimacy. Many of us carry implicit beliefs about what sex “should” look like, how often it should happen, or what it says about us and our relationship. These narratives can create pressure, shame, or misunderstanding. Together, we examine and challenge these assumptions so you can move toward something that feels more authentic.
We also work on creating space for a shared sexual vision. This means developing a clearer understanding of what intimacy looks like for each of you and building something that reflects both partners’ needs, values, and desires. This process often includes learning how to talk about sex more openly, express preferences and boundaries, and stay connected even when differences arise.
The goal is not to meet an external standard, but to create a sexual and intimate connection that feels mutual, intentional, and genuinely fulfilling for both of you.
Is this right for us?
This work may be a good fit if you and your partner are experiencing differences in desire, feeling disconnected sexually, or finding it difficult to talk about intimacy in a way that feels safe and productive.
You might feel stuck in patterns where one partner is pursuing and the other is withdrawing, or unsure how to navigate changes in your sexual relationship over time. You may also be working through specific sexual challenges or wanting to deepen your connection.
Sex and intimacy therapy can also be helpful if you want to be more intentional about this part of your relationship, even if things are generally going well.
Because this work can feel vulnerable, it is most effective when both partners are open to approaching it with curiosity, honesty, and care.
What to expect
In our work together, we will create a space where these conversations can happen more comfortably and without judgment. We will move at a pace that feels manageable and respectful of both partners.
You can expect a mix of guided conversation, education, and practical tools. We will work on improving how you communicate about sex, understanding each partner’s experience, and identifying patterns that may be getting in the way of connection.
There may be structured exercises or reflections between sessions to help you continue the work in your day-to-day relationship. These are always collaborative and tailored to what feels appropriate for you.
Over time, many couples notice increased comfort talking about intimacy, a clearer understanding of each other’s needs, and a stronger sense of connection both emotionally and physically.
