Clinical consultation for therapists
Keep growing as a therapist.
Becoming licensed doesn't mean you're finished developing as a clinician. Therapy is an art that we continue to practice throughout our careers. As our clients become more complex and our work deepens, we need spaces where we can step outside of the therapy room, reflect on what we're doing, and continue sharpening our skills.
I offer clinical consultation for licensed therapists who want to deepen their work with trauma, relational trauma, couples, and relationships.
Consultation is a space to slow down and think together. We can look closely at challenging cases, explore relational dynamics that have you feeling stuck, strengthen your conceptualization, practice interventions, and consider what might be happening beneath the surface for both you and your clients.
Deepening Your Relational Skills
I approach therapy from the belief that humans are wired for connection and that many of our deepest wounds happen within relationships. Those wounds inevitably show up in the therapy room.
Working relationally means learning to recognize these patterns as they unfold in real time. It means paying attention to attachment, vulnerability, protection, conflict, disconnection, and repair, while also noticing what is happening in the relationship between you and your client.
For therapists working with couples, this can become even more complex. You're not only attending to two individual people, but to the relational system they create together.
Consultation can help you slow these moments down, understand what is happening, and become more intentional about how you intervene.
Working With Trauma
Trauma work requires more than knowing the right intervention.
It requires understanding how trauma shapes the way people experience themselves, their relationships, and the world around them. It also requires knowing when to challenge, when to slow down, when to create structure, and when the most important intervention is simply staying present with your client.
My approach to trauma consultation is grounded in relational healing. We will think together about how your clients' histories are showing up in their current relationships and in the therapeutic relationship, while building your confidence in responding to those dynamics.
Self-of-the-Therapist
Who you are matters in the therapy room.
Even as experienced therapists, our own histories, relationships, fears, strengths, triggers, and ways of connecting with others influence our clinical work. Certain clients will activate us. Some dynamics will feel familiar. Others may leave us feeling unusually stuck, protective, frustrated, uncertain, or disconnected.
Those reactions aren't something we need to eliminate. They are information.
Consultation gives us a place to become curious about what is happening inside of you and how it may be interacting with the clinical work. The goal is to understand yourself well enough that you can use your humanity intentionally.
