Couples therapy in Denver, CO & online

A more connected way forward.

Relationships can be one of the most meaningful parts of our lives—and also one of the most challenging. Even strong, caring partnerships can get stuck in patterns of disconnection, miscommunication, or conflict that feel hard to break.

Couples therapy is a space to slow things down, understand what is happening beneath those patterns, and begin to create a relationship that feels more connected, secure, and aligned with both partners’ needs.

My approach

My approach to couples therapy is grounded in attachment theory. At the core, most relationship struggles are not about the surface-level issue, but about deeper needs for connection, safety, and understanding.

When those needs feel threatened, we tend to fall into familiar cycles. Together, we work to identify these patterns and shift them so that both partners feel more seen, supported, and secure.

Familiar responses when connection feels threatened

  • Pursuing
  • Withdrawing
  • Criticizing
  • Shutting down

The work we do

Connection and autonomy

Healthy relationships make room for closeness and independence at the same time. We will explore how to stay connected to each other while also maintaining a strong sense of self.

Acceptance

Not everything about your partner needs to change for the relationship to feel better. Part of the work is learning to understand and accept each other more fully.

Rituals of connection

We intentionally build small, consistent ways of staying connected—rituals that help maintain closeness even in the midst of busy or stressful lives.

Practice between sessions

I regularly assign homework and offer principles you can apply in your day-to-day relationship. Therapy becomes a place to actively practice new ways of relating.

The goal is not to fit your relationship into a predefined model, but to help you create a relationship that feels authentic and good for both of you.

Is this right for us?

Couples therapy may be a good fit if you find yourselves feeling disconnected, struggling to repair after a rupture, or unsure how to communicate in ways that help each other feel understood.

  • You have the same arguments over and over.
  • You feel disconnected or more like roommates than partners.
  • One partner pursues connection while the other pulls away.
  • Conflict escalates quickly and feels hard to repair.
  • You struggle to communicate in ways that actually land.
  • You want to be more intentional about how you connect and grow together.

This work is also valuable if your relationship is generally strong, but you want to be more intentional about how you connect, communicate, and grow together.

Couples therapy tends to be most effective when both partners are willing to reflect on their own patterns and engage in the process, even if things feel difficult or uncertain at first.

What to expect

In our early sessions, we will focus on understanding your relationship dynamic. This includes identifying patterns of interaction, how conflict unfolds, and what each of you is longing for beneath the surface.

Sessions are structured and collaborative. I will guide the process, help slow things down when needed, and support both partners in feeling heard and understood.

You can expect a mix of conversation, skill-building, and practical application. I will introduce principles to help you better understand your relationship, and we will work together to apply them in ways that feel relevant to you.

Homework is a regular part of the process. This might include practicing new ways of communicating, trying out rituals of connection, or reflecting on specific patterns between sessions. The goal is to help change take root in your everyday life, not just in the therapy room.

Over time, many couples notice improved communication, a greater sense of emotional safety, and a stronger ability to navigate conflict while staying connected.
